Saito used to be a master of all martial arts a few hundred years ago, that was until he got killed by a stray bullet. The place Saito died was an open grassfield ontop of a small hill, 2 years after he died Yuri's parents decided to build a house on that hill.
Saito thought he didn't deserve to have died that way, so he decided to haunt the Tatsuki family. He found that they were nice people and started to develop a certain bond with them, after Yuri was born her family asked Saito to become her friend and guardian. Saito agreed because he felt affection towards the small baby Yuri.
A bond formed between Saito and the newborn child, when Yuri murdered her own parents unwillingly and unknowingly Saito swore to do everything within his power to help Yuri.
